Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an amazing product, packed with features to make you more productive. We’d like to share a few of those with you. And we hope that after you’ve read this article you too might feel that Business Central is pretty cool.
#1: Everything an Accountant Needs is a Click Away on the Homepage
The Business Central homepage is very intuitive. From here, you have one-click access to Customers, Vendors, Items, Bank Accounts, and the Chart of Accounts. The homepage is also a dashboard of business insights, showing you data such as your best-selling products, sales and accounting statistics, and much more. Below that you’ll find other graphs further highlighting business performance, with PowerBI baked right in.
#2: Easily Customize Views that are Essential for Small Businesses
Each user can customize the way many different views display information. For example, some may like to see pictures for their contacts, while others prefer a table-style list. Even the list is configurable – you can add or remove fields to display all the information you need, and trim out what you don’t.
#3: Excel Integration with Dynamics 365 Business Central
Manipulate your data with ease by using Microsoft Excel. For example, you may be missing important data in your customer list, or you want to perform a bulk update with hundreds or thousands of rows. Simply click “Edit in Excel” in Business Central, and the customer list is automatically downloaded and opened in Excel for editing. Once you’ve added the missing data (or modified it), click “Publish” and the Business Central database is instantly updated – simply refresh your screen to see the new results.
#4: Outlook Integration
Business Central can assist you in attending to customer inquiries and requests in emails. The system will be able to notice that the contact was associated with a particular client, that it contained a request for an estimate, and thus it was able to generate a quote, ready for review before sending. Such automation features can really speed up the tedious tasks of a user’s workday, freeing up time to focus on revenue-generating activities.
#5: Easily Automate Workflows with Power Automate
Keep everyone in the loop with automated actions, triggered by common tasks. As you know, Power Automate gives you a broad range of triggers and actions that you can configure to do almost anything, without writing a single line of code. For example, you could create a flow that, upon creating a new customer, sends a notification to your sales group in Teams, giving them an opportunity to say hi.
As a side note, there are other ways that Business Central integrates well with Teams. You can copy a customer link from Business Central and paste it into Teams, giving workmates the needed information in the app they’re most familiar with – nobody needs to be a Business Central expert to share and receive important data.
